About
The 'Muslims Around the World Project' (MATW-Project) is a non-governmental organization founded by Ali Banat, a young businessman from the Australian Muslim community who passed away from cancer. The project was established in October 2015 with the aim of assisting those less fortunate in poverty-stricken areas of Togo, Africa. Since its inception, MATW has successfully implemented numerous projects such as schools, orphanages, and housing for widows and children in Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Benin. The project expanded its relief programs to Lebanon, Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, and parts of East Africa in 2021. Providing for children and orphans was particularly close to Ali's heart, and he dedicated the remainder of his life towards charity. MATW-Project aims to provide financial assistance and outreach to those in need and is a community-based, non-profit organization. Mahmoud Ismail, Ali Banat's friend and the CEO of MATW-Project, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from TRT World Citizen Awards in 2021 to acknowledge Ali Banat's contribution to society.
